Carlsberg UK was the winner of the Drinksummit Vase at the annual Federation of Wholesale Distributors Drinksummit.
The vase was presented to John Robinson, sector account director cash and carry of Carlsberg UK by James Bielby, chief executive of the FWD, and Francis Ball, FWD chairman.
This was Bielby’s first Drinksummit as chief executive following the retirement of John Murphy as director general in May.
Carlsberg was the first winner of the Drinksummit Vase when it was introduced in 2004. Carlsberg’s price-marked packs from before and after Christmas were cited as reasons for the win, as these work well in independents and increase sales.
Robinson said: “We are absolutely delighted with the recognition. It is the result of a lot of hard work to deliver a strategy that drives profitable growth and helps sustain successful wholesale and independent trade channels. We will continue to build on this, ensuring we listen to what our customers and consumers want.”
Bielby said: “Carlsberg are deserved winners who have provided a strong and consistent value for money offering. They are supportive of the wholesale sector.”
