Confectionery wholesaler Hancocks is poised to open a brand new cash and carry in Rochester, Kent.
Hancocks says the new site opens up a new region of the country for growth and is close to one of the busiest Booker depots in the country, confirming the area as a bustling one for independent retailers.
Hancocks Rochester will open on March 1, 2015 on Maidstone Road, the Airport Industrial Estate in the town; just a mile from the M3 (junction 3). At 14,000sq ft, it will house around 5,000 branded and own label confectionery products in what was formally a Comet electrical store.
Mark Watson, Hancocks CEO said this week: “This is a great location for Hancocks and we cannot wait to open in March and get trading. Our research indicates great potential in this area of Kent and the M3 will ensure ease of access to Hancocks Rochester. We expect to draw customers from the immediate towns in addition to many coastal areas slightly further afield, where there is great demand for a wide range of confectionery”.
Chris Griffiths will be the manager of the new depot. He was previously based at Hancocks Liverpool, and has worked with Hancocks for a couple of years. A local team will also be employed and a selection of strong promotions and events will launch the new cash and carry.
The new depot joins Hancocks cash and carries in Watford and Croydon, while adding to a UK portfolio of 20 outlets.
