German retailer Metro has sold its stake in Booker Wholesaler for £196m. The two formed a strategic partnership in May 2012 when Booker bought Metro’s Makro outlets in the UK
Booker said this week the partnership had worked well for both Metro and Booker – helping to drive “a strong performance” of the enlarged business.
Charles Wilson, Booker CEO said: “The acquisition of Metro UK has been a very successful part of our proven strategy to ‘broaden’ the Booker business. All of us at Booker thank Olaf Koch and his team at Metro for their support and cooperation over the last two years, and we look forward to further cooperation through the continuation of our strategic partnership.”
The two companies expect to continue their strategic partnership.
