Sheffield-based wholesaler Pricecheck has joined Today’s Group as part of its rapid plans to double sales and staff over the next five years.
The £40m Features > Business, which sells discounted clearance stock predominantly in the health and beauty sectors, operates from a 100,000sqft depot selling to customers that include discount and independent retailers, pharmacies, internet retailers and other wholesalers.
Managing director of Today’s Group Bill Laird said: “Pricecheck is a fast-growing, forward-thinking Features > Business, keen on investment and expansion – they are an excellent fit for our group.” This year, Pricecheck will relocate to larger premises on the outskirts of Sheffield as part of a five-year plan to double turnover from £40m to £80m and increase staff numbers from 75 to 150.
“Retailers and their customers will benefit from Pricecheck’s competitive pricing on leading branded goods, combined with the benefits of our promotional programme,” added Laird.
Jointly run by managing directors Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison, the business recently received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, in recognition of the rapid growth of its export turnover, which increased from £3m in 2009 to £12m in 2014.
Managing director Debbie Harrison said, “Winning the Queen’s Award will enhance our reputation worldwide and will help us to achieve our ambitious growth plans.”
Mark and Debbie attended a ‘winners’ reception at Buckingham Palace this week and a presentation will also be organised to take place at the businesses premises, where the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire will present the award.
